About Us
Baobab Tree of Life is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that was founded in 2021 by Valalita Elaine Trudell, a New Orleans native and professional chef.

Once upon a time, the African people were deeply connected to their roots and culture. As time has evolved, the African diaspora has become globally ravaged, yet the African people largely remain unaware of their heritage.

Baobab Tree of Life is an educational nonprofit organization that aims to preserve African heritage, enhance each individual's well-being through food, and empower communities with information about their history. Baobab connects youth by engaging them in African culture from which they have been disconnected.

With simple recipes from the diaspora, old and new, Valalita uses ingredients straight from mother earth to uplift the importance of what we eat. She combines history, culture and food in order to teach others how to keep our African heritage thriving.
